Health & Safety Policy Statement
Shamrock Renovation is committed to providing and maintaining a safe and healthy working environment for all employees, subcontractors, clients, and any other persons who may be affected by our work activities. The health, safety, and welfare of all persons on or near our sites is a fundamental priority.
This policy is reviewed regularly and updated as necessary to ensure it reflects current legislation, standards, and best practice in the Irish construction and renovation sector.
Our Responsibilities
Shamrock Renovation, as the primary contractor, accepts responsibility for establishing and maintaining a safety management system for all projects we undertake. This includes:
- Providing a safe place of work with safe means of access and egress
- Ensuring all equipment, tools, and materials are suitable, maintained, and used safely
- Providing adequate information, instruction, training, and supervision to all workers
- Assessing risks before and during all works and implementing appropriate control measures
- Consulting with workers and subcontractors on health and safety matters
- Reporting and investigating all accidents, near-misses, and dangerous occurrences
- Maintaining adequate public liability insurance at all times, and employer's liability insurance where we engage employees
Risk Assessment
Prior to commencing any project, Shamrock Renovation will carry out a site-specific risk assessment and, where required, prepare a Safety and Health Plan in accordance with the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (Construction) Regulations 2013.
Risk assessments are reviewed at key project stages and updated when work conditions or hazards change. All team members are briefed on the relevant risks and control measures before starting work.
Subcontractors & Trades
All subcontractors and specialist tradespeople engaged by Shamrock Renovation must:
- Hold appropriate insurance and relevant qualifications or registrations
- Comply with all applicable health and safety legislation and site rules
- Complete relevant site inductions before commencing work
- Report any accidents, incidents, or near-misses immediately to the project manager
- Supply appropriate RAMS (Risk Assessment & Method Statements) where required
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
All workers on Shamrock Renovation sites are required to wear appropriate PPE at all times. As a minimum, this includes safety footwear and, where relevant, hard hats, high-visibility vests, gloves, and eye protection. PPE is provided where specific hazards require it.
Working in Occupied Properties
When carrying out renovation work in occupied homes, Shamrock Renovation takes particular care to minimise disruption and risk to occupants. This includes:
- Clearly defining and securing the work zone
- Controlling dust and debris with appropriate barriers and sheeting
- Securing tools, materials, and equipment at the end of each working day
- Ensuring electrical and gas systems are safely isolated during relevant works
- Keeping children and pets away from active work areas at all times
Emergency Procedures
All site personnel are made aware of emergency procedures at the start of each project, including the location of first aid equipment, fire exits, assembly points, and emergency contact numbers. In the event of any accident or emergency, work ceases immediately and appropriate emergency services are contacted.

Shamrock Renovation is committed to complying with all applicable health and safety legislation, including:
- Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005
- Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (Construction) Regulations 2013
- SI 299 of 2007 (General Application Regulations)
- Building Regulations (as amended)
- All applicable HSA codes of practice and guidance
